Te Rehutai

This week we were excited to be learning a bit about The Rehutai, the Team New Zealand AC 75 that has been sailing in the Waitemata Harbour.  Here is my information.

Te Rehutai won. the Americas cup

The skipper is Peter Burling of Te Rehutai.

Ac75 was designed by someone and they decided to name it that because of how long it was .

75 feet long, like 22.8 Meters.

Flying on foils.

It doesn’t have a keel.

Draft: 5.m (16.5ft)

It is so fast because it has no drag.

Boat weight is 7 ton.

Te Rehutai fell and did a bathtub.

Nz has been the most successful team apart from America.

Oldest sporting cup in the world.

The boats can go to 50knots. 50knots are 92 kilometers per hour.

  1. Hi Laylah thank you for sharing some fun Te Rehutai facts with us. I really enjoyed watching the racing especially when our amazing America's Cup boat was flying at high speed around the mark on Waitemata Harbour. Could you explain what draft is?
