I had to write a recount about an event I have been to in the past couple of weeks. I had to use personification and similes in my recount. I wrote about my cousins birthday.
Charli’s Birthday
Hurry up Laylah! Coming! Dad was yelling at me to hurry because we were going to Hamilton with the family, for my cousin's 1st birthday. We chucked the bags in the boot and off we zoomed.
A few crazy hours later… Are we there yet! I complained. GPS: 10 minutes until your destination. My face lit up with joy and relief. We’d made it. I saw a row of cars. I was really excited to see my aunties and uncles. Slowly I opened the big, grey door. I saw everybody eating pizza and talking. I stepped through the door and went to see everybody and gave them great big hugs.
Laylah wake up! I woke to a very loud, feral child Aka my sister. I got ready and we waited impatiently for my aunties and cousins to come. We waited and waited. Of course they were late. They pulled up in the driveway. I see Aunty Casey holding my crazy cousin. She had a big, cheeky grin on her face.
Yay the park! A few minutes later… We raced out of the car. I was in a kid's dream. The park was humongous, it was filled with kids chatting, giggling and playing. Suddenly there was one thing that caught my attention. It was like a wonderland. The wooden, green tower stood tall and proud in the blue, blue sky.
I imagined I was in a green jungle swinging on vines, sliding down massive slides, Climbing jagged rock walls. I even saw a section of swings swaying in the cool breeze. I had to hop on one. Then I went to the baby section to play with my cousin. I grabbed her and we went through tunnels, over bridges. Until she lost the plot.
I had so much fun in Hamilton with my family. We had an amazing time playing, celebrating and eating cake. I can’t wait to go back. I was excited to go home though.
