Today I did a task. That task was to listen around your house and on screencastify record the sounds you hear for ideas to make a poem about the summer sounds you hear. Here is my poem.

Well done - this is such a cool Summer Sounds poem! This definitely sounds like a classic summer’s day in my backyard too. You have done a great job at using lots of sensory language to help your readers hear in their head, what you hear around you. Especially with words like “sizzle” and “splashing.” It was as if I was there in the picture!

I really like your illustrations as well - these are so neat! You’ve put in a lot of detail, with the lovely tui in the corners and the little sausages and steaks on the barbecue. You are quite the artist! I also love the different facial expressions on the people in the pool!

Did you manage to record any audio of the sounds around you? It would be great if you could add it to your blog. It’s perfectly okay if everything in the poem doesn’t feature in the audio, it would just be awesome to hear your inspiration!

Ka pai Laylah, and keep up the excellent blogging!
